This is a noble and grand 2nd Piano Concerto of Brahms. Fischer and Furtwängler had an excellent relationship and, clearly, much in common. This can be heard from the opening bars and there is a consistent vision throughout. There is some distortion in loud passages, but it is such a great interpretation that this relatively small problem becomes insignificant.

The Strauss songs are wonderfully sung and conducted, and have excellent sound. A little more than a month later, Anders would be the tenor soloist in the famous Beethoven 9th of March, 1942.
