It is a tragedy that we do not have the first movement of the 6th Symphony. Everything in it feels so right, that even if this is not a favorite work of yours, this performance can start to make a difference. I have listened to this recording right after the Tristan Prelude and Liebestod from 1942, and the start of the Adagio after the Wagner was simply overwhelming. Such nobility! The sound quality is very good.
|Bruckner Symphony No. 6 in A Major (2-4 Mov.)|
Bruckner Symphony No. 7 in E Major (2 Mov.)
Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra - 1943 and 1942
The 7th Symphony is a studio recording from 1942. Again, it is a profoundly noble, elegiac performance. Again, it is unfortunate that they did not record the complete symphony.
