A Different Point of View Schubert Symphony No. 9 "The Great" Wagner Siegfried's Funeral March Venezuela Symphony Orchestra
$9
These interpretations represent a different point of view from what one normally hears. The new editions of the Schubert "Great" C Major Symphony indicate that the composer has a desire to explore the heroic character, probably influenced by the composer's admiration of Beethoven and his presence at the premiere of the Ninth. In Siegfried's Funeral March, this interpretation shifts the emphasis from the tragic to the epic, by playing the famous Death Motif with the separation of the two fortissimo chords as written, rather than increasing the separation to emphasize the tragic character. Both issues are explained in more detail in the enclosed booklet.
